Does the manufacturer subscribe to NOFMA(National Oak Flooring Manufacturers Association) grading standards? If not, the floor that you are purchasing will be graded according to the standards of the manufacturer. This means that they can allow more knots and color variation. This allows them to use more otherwise unacceptable material, thereby lowering cost.
